General
The Den of Madness (DoM) was originally founded on a few basic tenets:
• Strive to accomplish everything the game has to offer at the highest level possible
• Be humble in regards to the guild's accomplishments
• Absolutely no drama within the guild
• Zero tolerance for exploitation
Guild Success - We are a guild of competitive players, who derive enjoyment from MMO's by being able to accomplish what few can. We achieve this through a continued dedication of our members to consistently improve themselves. A member's individual goal should be the pursuit to be considered the "best in their class" in game. A collection of "best-in-class" players, who work well together and respect each other, will result in the guild's success.
Humility - By nature, success breeds the possibility of arrogance. While we take pride in our accomplishments, and rightfully so, but our policy is to keep the celebration of those accomplishments within the guild, and within our forums. We respect there are other players in game who may or may not have similar goals, and if they are interested in what we have done, they are welcome to visit our site and our forums. We will not "link loot" in game, post "server firsts" in outside forums or in general game chat, or flaunt pvp victories over other parties outside of the DoM domain. In addition, every member of the guild is an ambassador of the guild, and your actions reflect upon the guild. Be mindful when posting in outside forums and in general game chat that what you say reflects upon the guild as well as yourself. Please keep this in mind at all times.
No Drama - While we do not have a minimum age requirement for members, we do expect a minimum level of maturity. Everyone in guild is expected to carry themselves as an adult, and should not need to be babysat or constantly reminded of our guild policies. Guild members do not necessarily need to be the best of friends, though a mutual respect should always exist among members. There will always be disputes, and in those instances we ask our members to deal with them together as quickly and effectively as possible. If needed, please contact an officer to deal with any disputes, and they wll be happy to lend a hand as a mediator. We will not tolerate any members in a constant state of duress however, and if after a guild decision is made regarding a dispute, there still exists any animosity between players, one player will be removed from the guild. This is our zero tolerance for guild drama.
Exploitation - Achieving guild success through means of exploiting a game system that the majority adhere to, is not success, and tarnishes the guild name as well as the achievement of every active member. If you suspect any member of the guild is acting in a manner inconsistent with the spirit of the game, please bring it to an officer's attention. If a member is found to be guilty of a game exploitation, they will be removed immediately. No warnings, no second chances. To be clear, our guild's definition of an exploit is
the continued use of an in game mechanic that clearly circumvents the intentions of the developers, to the betterment of the exploiter or detriment of other players.
In short, members are expected to carry themselves in a manner consistent with the guild values and policies. Failure to do so will result in immediate removal.
Recruitment
The specific guidelines and process can be found in the recruitment forum.
DoM welcomes players from all walks of life, and holds no prejudices on race, sex, or nationality. We do prejudice against incompetence and insubordination. We recruit only the very best players, and/or players who show the capacity and desire to strive towards the being the best . Being a skilled individual is only part of the equation however. If you cannot work well with others, play disciplined within the confines of a system when needed, and take constructive criticism, then you are not a fit for this guild.
Voice Chat
All members and recruits are required to have a working headset and mic, and be in our Ventrilo server whenever logged on. Under no circumstances will you be permitted to group with any guild members when not in Ventrilo. It is a liability to them in PvP and PvE, and unfair to members who are following the policy.. If you are unable at any time to be in voice chat (work from home, etc), you are more than welcome to solo and trade skill. However,
playtimes and continuing member status will be based on your time logged into our Ventrilo server and playing, not just being logged into the game. You should not join this guild if your preference is to solo.
Channels are designated on our server. The general lobby is available for any members and non members to talk around any subject matter, in game or out. If you or your group require a more controlled environment, there are group channels available.
Also, please show a modicum of proficiency with your mic/headset. If you sound like a wailing banshee, or static or some other type of noise is caused by your logging into Ventrilo...fix it. Google is your friend.
Grouping/Non-raid activities
Preference should always be given to guild members. If you are in a group and have invited a non guild member in, please give notice that should a guild member be looking for a spot, their spot will be vacated. Likewise, if you are a member of a non-DoM group, and there is a guild group forming for instances or PvP, you are expected to leave your current group if needed.
Guest passes will be available and required into our Ventrilo server for any non members wishing to join a DoM group. Repeat: All "pick-ups" are required to be in Ventrilo. Mic is not mandatory, but preferred.
Non-members who continually join DoM groups should be inquired as to their application status. No one should attain the status of "regular" pug...if they choose to group with DoM continually, they should look into applying or find another group in the future.
Non-raid Attendance/Playtimes
While no set criteria is enforced at this time, it is expected that members of this guild view the game as one of their main hobbies, and would be expected to treat it as such. If you do not envision yourself logging in for a minimum few hours a day, 4-5 days a week, then you are likely better off elsewhere. If you attendance, or lack thereof, becomes noticeable to extent that it becomes a discussion for the officer of the guild, if will be brought to your attention, and unless there are short term extenuating circumstances, it may result in your being moved to an inactive roll, and eventually removal from the guild if the pattern doesn't change. This should not need much enforcement at the end of the day. We hope that members want to play, and should not need to entice you to log on., If you're not enjoying yourself to the point that you have that desire, please be honest with yourself and tell an officer, and then remove yourself from the guild.
Alts
For the time being, at the launch of Aion, alts are prohibited within and outside the guild. Your focus should be on improving your main character that is contributing to the guild. Exceptions may be granted on a case by case basis once discussed with an officer of the guild. This policy may change over time.
Under no exception are you to have another character in another guild, on our server or another, without the express permission from a guild officer. We work hard on strategies for both PvE and PvP, and it is expected those strategies stay within the guild for as long as you are a member. To alleviate any ambiguity, any member found with an alt in another guild without the express permission from the guild leadership, will be removed immediately without exception.
Raiding
DoM will have scheduled raid times where the entire guild is expected to be online, in a specified location, at a specific time. Punctuality is imperative, and if you find yourself needing to restart before raids, grab items from the guild bank or broker (potions, arrows, etc), this should all be done in advance with consideration of the time needed to travel to the raid form-up location. Being even 1 minute late will result in severe "dkp" penalties (though not as severe as not showing up at all). Raid schedules will be posted within the member section of the forums.
Be on time.Raid attendance will be kept for every form-up. Raid attendance will have a direct effect on loot decisions (see DKP section), as well as member status. If you don't meet the minimum scheduled attendance, you may be moved to an inactive status, and eventual removal from guild. Specific attendance marks TBD.
When in raid form-up, members are expected to be in the raid Ventrilo channel. Conversation is permitted within the channel, however if an officer has an announcement members are expected to cease communication so that announcements can be relayed clearly and timely. This will be the case for your entire time while within the raid channel. (the same courtesy should be given in group channels to the group leaders).
Non-scheduled raids (contested and PvP) will be a mainstay of this guild in Aion. Any officer may make a "Form-up call", providing there's a minimum number of members available to give a chance of success. Attendance at these forums will not affect raid attendance, but may result in bonus dkp being given to attending members (i.e. you won't be punished directly for not being present, though available members may be rewarded). This will be at the discretion of the formation officer. With the abundance of contested mobs in the game, this is another reason why a consistent playtime is desired by all members. We will recruit to the point where we feel comfortable that at any given time, we are able to meet demand for objectives with the necessary classes.
